Chemotherapy
Treatment review

Provide an access to view a patient's current and past chemotherapy treatments and start patient's next cycle for chemotherapy.
01
background

Users

Nurses and Physicians (Oncologists) at large hospitals or clinics running Cerner Powerchart Oncology.

Objective

In order to gain an understanding of the patient's treatment plan in its entirety, both present and past chemotherapy treatments should be displayed. This allows the physician to properly complete his/her note and make clinical decisions around the patient's treatment plan moving forward.

When viewing the patient's past/current treatment, it will be crucial that the physician can easily navigate to an ordering conversation in which they can place the patient's next treatment.

My Role

Interaction Designer, work with engineering team for implementation strategy.

Understand the scenario, overall workflow and drug dosage implications on a patient and create a simplified view for a nurse to view the patient's historical and current chemo treatments.

Mpage Summary View

The current view is based off an Mpage Summary view which provides limited information and no actionable next steps.

03
strategy & approach

Break user's journey into tasks

1. As a clinician I want to view current and historical chemotherapy plans for a patient so I can efficiently determine what cycle and chemotherapy plan the patient is currently on and what chemotherapy the patient has received in the past.

2. As a clinical I need the ability to adhoc (add chemo outside plan) chemotherapy information so there is one place to view all past and current chemotherapy treatments

3. As a clinician I want to document “response to treatment” so it reflects that status of the patient cancer as a result of a patient’s treatment-

  • CR = Complete response
  • PR = Partial response
  • SD = Stable Disease
  • PD = Progressive Disease
  • NED = No Evidence of Disease
  • Not Assessable
  • Not Applicable

4. As a clinician I need the ability to document performance status so I can track a patient’s tolerance to treatment and decide future chemotherapy treatments when needed
